2 Year Planning Timeline
The standard recommendation for timing when planning a wedding is 12 months. However, a lot of couples (like myself!) decide to plan their wedding with a 18 - 24 month timeline. There are not a lot of sample wedding planning timelines for this amount of time so I thought I would create one for all of my couples who are planning with this timeframe!
2 YEAR PLANNING TIMELINE:
First Tasks:
-Create a Pinterest Board to start gathering inspiration
-Choose Date
-Determine Guest List
-Decide Budget
-Book Wedding Planner
-Determine Colour Palette & Wedding Aesthetic
-Book your Venue
Tasks 24-13 Months Before:
-Book Catering
-Book Photographer
-Book Videographer
-Book Officiant
-Book DJ/Musician(s)
-Book Florist
-Book Hair & Makeup Artists
-Choose Wedding Party
-Decide on Design & Decor Elements
-Can choose to have your Engagement Session during this time
-This is a great time to look into Honeymoon locations!
Tasks 12-10 Months Before:
-Wedding Dress Shopping
-Reserve Hotel Block
-Create Wedding Website
-Create Registry
-Start working with a Stationery Designer
Tasks 9-7 Months Before:
-Book Transportation
-Finalize Wedding Website
-Send Save the Dates
-Purchase Bridesmaids Dresses
-Order Rentals/Decor
Tasks 6-4 Months Before:
-Purchase Wedding Bands
-Confirm Rehearsal Dinner Details
-Order Favours
-Order Cake/Dessert(s)
-Purchase/Reserve Groom & Groomsmen Suits
-Catering Taste Testing & Finalize Menu
-Decide on MC
-Determine Draft Floor Plan
-Purchase any Decor you are bringing in yourself (candles, guest book, signs, etc.)
Tasks 3-2 Months Before:
-Send Invitations
-Purchase Shoes & Jewelry/Accessories
-Wedding Dress Fitting
-Create Draft Seating Chart
-Purchase Marriage License
-Typically a Wedding Shower would be during this time
Tasks 1 Month Before:
-Typically Bachelorette/Bachelor Parties would be during this time
-Decide on Ceremony Service order
-Call Guests who have not RSVP’d
-Confirm Final Guest Count (+ provide to Caterer)
-Finalize Ceremony Processional & Recessional Order as well as Songs
-Finalize Grand Entrance Order & Songs
-Finalize Reception Speeches & Dances Order
-Order/Create Seating Chart
-Order/Create Place Cards
-Finalize Vows
-Finalize Thank You Speech
-Final Wedding Dress Fitting
-Pickup Suit(s)
-Ensure Final Payments have been made
-Get Engagement Ring Cleaned if Necessary
-Pack Day of Bag & Anything you will be bringing to the Venue (decor, marriage license, etc.)
-Rehearsal Dinner
-Get Married!
