How to Choose a Wedding Colour Palette when your Date is Up in the Air

Choosing a colour palette can be a difficult choice, let alone the impending threat of COVID and having to postpone – potentially to a whole new season! This causes the need to rethink your entire vision, décor & floral elements which can be incredibly stressful. We’re going to discuss some tips that could help you release that stress when deciding on wedding colours.

1. Think of your Venue/Setting – If you already have the perfect venue, look to the location to help you decide on your colour palette. You want to make sure that none of your colours will clash with décor that is already featured in the venue. Perhaps there is a gorgeous rug, or the tones of paint can help you in making a decision.

2. Keep it Classic – If you’re having a hard time coming up with colours, look to neutrals and classics. These colours can fit in with any season. First off, think of white, black, grey, brown, cream, etc. Greenery is an element that will never go out of style and literally goes with every single colour palette. Then, add a metallic! Gold, silver, copper, the choices are endless and will match any season.

3. Focus on Textures – You don’t have to feature a huge colour palette if you consider textures. You can create drama and depth to your wedding just by mixing textures and patterns. A once considered “boring” colour theme becomes a work of art!

4. Don’t Stress Out – It’s so easy to get caught up in the details and the belief that you have to have a strict colour palette with no wiggle room, but it doesn’t have to be like that. There are no set rules that you have follow, instead, think of your colours as a guideline to fall back on and remember to incorporate many different elements such as texture, style, aesthetic, etc. Focus on the overall vision and atmosphere you would like to create.
